Privacy policy

The short version

We collect one thing: a parent or guardian’s email address, when they choose to give it to unlock the free game or join our list. We never collect anything about a child. We use privacy-friendly analytics that don’t track people. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your email at any time.

Who we are

nalaroonie.com is run by Vallace Studio Ltd (“we”, “us”), the independent publishing studio behind the Nala Roonie® books, audiobook and the Woodland Explorer game. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us via our contact form.

What we collect, and why

A grown-up’s email address

  • What: the email address a parent or guardian types into the “play the game” gate, the sign-up box on our homepage, or the Ballu unlock prompt inside the game. We also record where on the site it was entered and the date.
  • Why: to send the game link and a short welcome series, to let you know about new Nala Roonie stories and products, and to understand which parts of the site people find useful.
  • Legal basis (UK GDPR): your consent, given when you enter your email. You can withdraw it at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by contacting us.
  • How long: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We review the list at least once a year and remove addresses that have not opened an email in 24 months.

No data about children. Ever.

The game and the website are made for young children, so we designed them to collect nothing about them. There are no accounts, no chat, no comments or uploads, no names, no ages, and no behavioural tracking of children. The email gate asks for a grown-up’s address and says so on the form. If you believe a child has entered their own email address, tell us via our contact form and we will delete it straight away.

Anonymous website statistics

We use Fathom Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics to count visits, see which pages and buttons are used, and check the site is fast. Both are designed to be privacy-first: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles, and IP addresses are not stored. See our cookies & analytics page.

Who we share it with (our processors)

We do not sell or rent your email address, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Links to other sites

Buttons on our shop page take you to Amazon, Audible, Books2Read, Bookshop.org, our studio shop and social networks such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Those sites have their own privacy policies and may collect data in accordance with them once you leave nalaroonie.com.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to see, correct, delete or export the personal data we hold about you, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Use our contact form: we’ll respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Significant changes will be mentioned in our emails.
